August 26 Marilyn Wine Report

Summer must be coming close to an end. More bids on most of the current auctions and in many cases there are multiple bids.

Of the later vintages, the 1996 MM continues to be strong. Prices are creeping up above the $110 mark. Surprisingly, the 2001 MM has shown the greatest increase and I have seen auctions this week above the $108 mark for the first time.

The older vintages continue to see sporadic play. The 1991 still appears to be in demand without much supply. The 1992MM & 1994MM are probably the closest to the retail prices we have seen in a long time and are closing over $200 in some instance.

With the fall season starting up, please start looking for our deal of the week that will be available to Blog readers only.

Sorry about being a little late. Do enjoy spending some time with the little grandkids.

There were some good signs of an improving market for sellers. More bids on many items. Just a few more weeks until kids go back to school and collectors return to the market.

Weekly Report on Marilyn Wine Auctions August 11 2007

Each week, I will try to give an unabiased report on what is hot and what is not for Marilyn Wines. If you are a collector or a seller of this highly desireable series, I hope you make this Blog must reading. I will try to post a weekly summary every Saturday.

Not many buyers around and there were some real good bargains to be had. had great 1988MM that could have been had for the $500 minimum bid. It's up again this week if you are missing it from your collection click here. The 1996MM remains very strong and I have seen a few auctions at the $120 level.

The Norma Jeanes were very soft and many could have been had at minimum bids.

The Red Velvets continue to command that starting bid of $170 plus shipping as do the 1993 and 1994 Marilyn Cabernets that are quickly becoming quite popular items in our offerings. These were the only two collections that were numbered so collectors could depend on a known quantity in the marketplace.

We expect another soft week upcoming before we head into the "Back to School" timeperiod, when many of the collectors return to these boards.

Marilyn remembered......August 5, 2007

	Marilyn Monroe Memorial Westwood, California August 5, 2007 Celebrating the 45th Anniversary of Marilyn's demise
During some recent research, I discovered that a memorial service is held for Marilyn, each year on the date of her demise, August 5. This year, being a Sunday, I decided to take a leisurely ride down the PCH and attend my first memorial.
I have been coming to Westwood, home of the UCLA Bruins since 1972. I must say that I never comprehended that a private cemetery for the stars would be surrounded by some of the tall office buildings on Wilshire Blvd. As I approached the Pierce Bros. Mortuary on Glendon Ave., one block east of Westwood Blvd, off Wilshire, I was amazed by the number of people (I estimated at 300) that continue to come out, year after year as a tribute to this icon we all love.
I hung around and got some pictures that I thought I would share with you. Above is the Chapel where the ceremony took place. You can also see the grounds and the crypt where Marilyn lies. Click on that picture and view full size. The blank crypt at the left was purchased by Hugh Hefner, who has chosen to be laid close to the lady that helped start that magazine that made him what he is today. Naturally, Marilyn's well known look alike was there and I was able to capture pictures as she was lighting a candle as a tribute to Marilyn. I cannot think of any other celebrity that could draw 300+ people to their gravesite after 45 years since here death. What a lady. more pictures Hope to see you there next year.

 

 

My Marilyn by Meisner

We have just signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Tom Kelley, Jr. to reproduce image #10 of the famous Red Velvet collection of nude photographs of Marilyn Monroe in a beautiful Acrylic Sculpture. The original sculpture was created by a noted group of artists working under the direction of the famed Meisner Galleries in NY. Combining the artistic beauty of this new medium with the iconic image of Marilyn thrust against a Red Velvet background will become a "Must Have" for any serious collector of Marilyn memorabilia. That certainly will include all my Marilyn Merlot Wine collectors. Only 400 Sculptures will be available for general consumption. There will also be 50 Artists Proofs  and 25 Charter Members sculptures being produced. Each of the sculptures will be signed and numbered with a Certificate of Authenticity provided to each buyer. We expect this to be sold out rather quickly, so please apply to this RSS feed and keep current on when we plan to start offering these for sale.
