On Saturday, I received a call from CNN asking me if I would like to participate in the Focus Group for the Republican Debate on Wednesday.

At first, I thought it was a good practical joke a few of my buds were playing on me. However, I did get an invitation from CNN by email and tomorrow night I will be taking part in the last Republican debate before Super Tuesday. With a little machine on my finger, my reactions during the debate will actually influence the direction of the graphs.

Although the actual debate is at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, the focus group will be at the Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Resort, about 1/2 mile from my house.

They have indicated we might be interviewed, so tune in and if  you see me, let me know at boba@pk2.net

Also wanted you to see me hard at work in the office.

Mamie rocks Hollywood and unveils her Wine

New Page 1

Anything that touches Marilyn is important to us. When another living legend from that generation steps forward, the ties to our girl are endless. We were privileged to have been invited to the gala event and here are some of the pictures that we took while attending one great part thrown by Dan Laskoski of Wine Country Cellars.

Hollywood:  November 11, 2007: Screen legend and notorious blond bombshell Mamie Van Doren, will team with Wine Country Cellars and the L.A. Press Club to launch the first limited edition of collectible Mamietage® wine bottles at a VIP/Press reception Wednesday, November 14th, 2007 in the City of West Hollywood.

Mamie is releasing a new series of wine with labels on 1.5 liter bottles featuring three images of Mamie. Two of the images are of Mamie today, and the third image is from Mamie at age 21. The wine labels are unique in that they all feature nude poses of Mamie covered up by a top, clear "peel away" label that has stars strategically placed. Peel the label away, and there is Mamie nude. The peel away portion is attached, and can be replaced to it's original form. The wine is called Mamietage®, a Bordeaux blend from Sonoma County's Armida Winery, chosen by Mamie herself, with a limited production of only 2000 bottles of each image. Each of the 2000 bottles will be individually numbered.

Hope we haven't been away from our blog too long. Between getting set for the Holiday selling season and moving to our new home and office in Oxnard, the past month has been quite hectic.... but you will be hearing more from me in the future so I hope you sign up for our feed.

Wanted to share this shot from my corner last week as we had some spectacular weather in Central California. Anytime you are in the area, give us a jingle....

I hope that you will sign up for our RSS feed and can regularly get updates on your own home page when we post new stories .

Kelley's "MyMarilyn" is born......

A special view of MyMarilyn .,,,, a limited edition Acrylic Sculpture of the most famous female icon of the 20th century.
We happen to live with an eastern exposure in our kitchen. MyMarilyn was proudly sitting on my counter when I caught an early morning sunrise. Marilyn just jumped out at me and hopefully I can share that with you.
With great anticipation, the new Kelley "MyMarilyn" Acrylic Sculpture from New Media Partners, is now completed. I am glad you could share the moment with me.

The Legal battles over Marilyn continue

Who Owns the Rights to Marilyn's Images?

When I sold my first bottle of Marilyn Merlot Wine (1987 vintage) on two years ago, I never imagined I would be involved or affected by Federal lawsuits and California legislation signed by my own Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The controversy is simple.

It's all about who owns the rights to these iconic photos of Marilyn taken by Milton Greene (Ballerrina), Tom Kelley Sr. (Red Velvet Series) and Sam Shaw ("Flying Skirt" from the "Seven Year Itch".

The best summary I found is the September 14th posting at Our Marilyn Blog. This past May, NY and California Federal Courts found in favor of the surviving heirs of the photographers .

Not willing to accept that decision, the Marilyn Monroe LLC proceeded to get new legislation turbo-charged through the California Legislature and signed into law last week. Problem is that Marilyn has been deemed to have been legally domiciled in NY at the time of her death and the California law does not apply. It was well reported in the USA Today, Wall Street Journal , London Telegraph and NPR Radio and will probably be well watched as the constitutionality of the process is tested in the courts. How sad....how did we get involved? That's a story for another day.

This thread will be all about the "Marilyn Law" and its impact on the Marilyn collectible community.

Marilyn Wine October 15

The 1999 Marilyn Merlot continues to show strong support above the $100 level as does the 2000MM. Seem to be a lot of mid 90's up for auction and the prices are a little soft.

We have also started a collectors page on our website www.pk2.net/collectors and if you have photos of your collection that you would like to share with us and the rest of the Marilyn community, please send to bob@pk2.net. We will try to write a feature on each collection with a little history about the collector.

August 26 Marilyn Wine Report

Summer must be coming close to an end. More bids on most of the current auctions and in many cases there are multiple bids.

Of the later vintages, the 1996 MM continues to be strong. Prices are creeping up above the $110 mark. Surprisingly, the 2001 MM has shown the greatest increase and I have seen auctions this week above the $108 mark for the first time.

The older vintages continue to see sporadic play. The 1991 still appears to be in demand without much supply. The 1992MM & 1994MM are probably the closest to the retail prices we have seen in a long time and are closing over $200 in some instance.

With the fall season starting up, please start looking for our deal of the week that will be available to Blog readers only.

Have a great week..... Bob Allen, founder Trader Harrys on Line Neighboorhood Stores  www.TraderHarrys.com
